Transformative Waters
Memorial day weekend 2015 in Wimberley, TX... the banks of the Blanco burst open wide and the river ran through the Buse family home.
To date, this is one of Bryan and I's most epic nights with mother nature. As we fled for higher ground with a wolf pack of 6 dogs, we were joined by a barefooted 33 week pregnant warrior and her barefooted pajama clad husband. Our newly formed tribe hiked through the Texas hill country, unaware that the river's force was carrying away our ancient trees like pieces of driftwood. It was the kind of night you can never really tell anyone about, because you were either there or you weren't.
In the wake of the destruction, I found my camera was miraculously untouched by the waters and I began to document the out pouring of love that surrounded us in our time of need. Friends, family, strangers and first responders we can’t thank you enough for showing up the way you did. We have sat on this footage for 4 years because it still felt so raw. Yet now we are transformed to see with awe and gratitude how love is the only thing that lasts! The rest was merely a path to awakening. It floods our memory and it quenches our souls.
